Kalyan Junction is a major railway junction station on the central line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway network, lying at the junction of the north-east and south-east lines of the suburban Mumbai division of the Central Railway, 54 km north-east of Mumbai. It is the third busiest station on Mumbai Suburban Railway after Thane and Andheri, where all mail and express trains halt, and there is a demand to upgrade the station into an integrated railway terminal as Mumbai CST is already saturated to its limits. ==Platforms== There are 8 platforms at Kalyan station. The platforms are 1, 1A, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. Platform number 1 and 1A are for Kalyan-originating slow/semi-slow 'UP'(towards Mumbai CST) Local Trains. Platform 2 and 3 are used for 'UP' and 'DOWN'(towards badlapur, karjat, kasara, titwala, khopoli) slow trains. Platform 4 is used for 'DOWN' Local Trains only. Platforms 5 and 6 are used for 'UP' as well as 'DOWN' trains slow/fast Trains. Platform 7 for 'UP' fast Local Trains only.
